Watching her video, I felt that she summarised really well the various aspects of keeping fit for the ladies.
I know many girls don't want to lift weights because they are afraid to become bulky. However, contrary to that belief, women don't bulk or build muscles like guys(you can if you want to but it'll take way more effort). In fact, lifting weights can actually help lose those fats all ladies complain about. It isn't all about cardio or running on the treadmill, especially so in Singapore where you see the ladies at the gym and all they do is run on the treadmill or cycle on the stationary bicycle.
Trust me ladies, pick up the weights the next time you go to the gym and leave your treadmill runs for after the weights workout. You'll see better results in lesser time as compared to the hours spent on those cardio machines. :)
Not too sure what's your goal body, girls, but here's one that'll hopefully be motivational to you :)
Till the next post!
Hi there! How can girls bulk up? I see you've talked about 'losing fats' through workout! Not wanting to gain muscle mass in particular but just weight and size generally. Wouldn't mind doing weights, squats and suicides though. Would like to build thighs (inner thighs especially) and core muscles! THANKS IN ADVANCE JEROMEEEE :D
ReplyDeleteHey Val! :)
ReplyDeletePersonally I think that for girls to 'bulk up' you just have to follow how the guys workout with weights, in proportion to your own strength and bodyweight. Meaning when a routine says heavy weights, find a weight that you can do 8-12 reps with in a set with proper form, you can even go to failure within the rep range (i.e 8-12reps). In the case of legs workout, the rep range in my opinion would go up to 12-20reps, 12-15reps for non-machine and 15-20reps for machine exercises. But do note it's just a guideline you can feel free to customize your own routine.
Here's a tip:
One of the most effective ways to keep your body fat low is to gain muscles, because in order to upkeep the muscles you have gained, your body uses up more energy/calories, thus not allowing it to store fats.
Some exercises for thighs in the gym are weighted squats, leg extensions(machine) and leg press(machine). With regards to the specific area of inner thighs I'm afraid I am not aware of an exercise that is more effective at working that area. However I believe that if you keep the above few exercises in your workout you'll develop a well toned upper leg. Don't neglect your hamstrings though!
For core muscles, a few of my favourite exercises are squats, deadlifts, planks.
It's hard to explain everything here. I'll do up a post as soon as I can for you with regards to legs and core :)
So do check this page when you can and thank you for your comment :)
